If your hair is long enough to rub against your face, some of the oil, dirt and dust can transfer onto your skin. You can either keep your hair short, or at least tie it back from your face whenever possible, to avoid adding to your acne problem.
When an acne outbreak first starts, keep out of the sun. The sun's rays irritate the skin and can make the acne a lot worse. If you do have to go out in the sun, use sunscreens that don't have an oil base.
Vitamin supplements are another option for helping to prevent acne. Many people recommend taking Vitamin A. It's often successful in preventing acne, and can help to improve your skin by diminish sebum production. Sebum is the more technical name for the oils that are mostly responsible for causing acne. Some other possible supplements include chromium or zinc.
Sweating also helps to contribute to acne, and this is particularly the case if you tend to get acne on your back. So avoid wearing tight clothes, and make sure you change your sheets and pillowcase regularly. This is particularly important during an acne outbreak, as oils and other debris will be rubbing off your face and onto your pillowcase every night, and the last thing you need is to be lying with your face in that every night.
Preventing acne isn't always easy, and will require you to spend some time thinking about what you do and how you do it. But if you put the effort in, you can certainly make a difference to the frequency and severity of acne outbreaks.
